Influenza virus infections can lead to a number of secondary complications, including sepsis. We applied linear regression models to mortality and hospital admission data coded for septicaemia from 1998 to 2019 in Hong Kong, and estimated that septicaemia was associated with an annual average excess mortality rate of 0.23 (95% CI 0.04–0.40) per 100 000 persons per year and an excess septicaemia hospitalisation rate of 1.73 (95% CI 0.94–2.50) per 100 000 persons per year. The highest excess morbidity and mortality was found in older adults and young children, and during influenza A(H3N2) epidemics.

A novel, broadband, nonlinear behavioral model, based on support vector regression (SVR) is presented in this paper. The proposed model, distinct from existing SVR-based models, incorporates frequency information into its formalism, allowing the model to perform accurate prediction across a wide frequency band. The basic theory of the proposed model, along with model implementation and the model extraction procedure for radio frequency transistor devices is provided. The model is verified through comparisons with the simulation of an equivalent circuit model, as well as experimental measurements of a 10 W Gallium Nitride (GaN) transistor. It is seen that the efficiency prediction throughout the Smith chart, for varying fundamental and second harmonic loads, across a wideband frequency range, show excellent fidelity to the measured results. Device dc self-biasing is also modelled to allow prediction of power amplifier (PA) efficiency, which is shown to be highly accurate when compared with corresponding measured data. Finally, a class-J PA is constructed and measured across the frequency with a large-signal input tone. The resulting measured and modelled values of key PA performance figures are shown to be in excellent agreement, indicating the model is suitable for broadband PA design.

OBJECTIVES/GOALS: Women with diabetes (DM) have higher rates of unplanned pregnancy and pregnancy complications, indicating a need for DM-specific counseling. Our aim is to use the Health Belief Model (HBM), widely applied to DM interventions, to create a conceptual model of contraceptive decision-making for women with DM. METHODS/STUDY POPULATION: Our convergent mixed methods study integrates quantitative survey data and qualitative interview data from women aged 18-50 with DM. We will interview until theoretical saturation is achieved. Descriptive statistics will be calculated to summarize demographics, health history, and contraceptive use and knowledge. Using a grounded theory approach, qualitative analysis will be conducted by JW and EJ with special focus on exploring HBM constructs. A joint display will be used to integrate key quantitative variables by qualitative themes. Finally, we will aim to implement these HBM constructs within the context of contraceptive decision-making for women with DM. RESULTS/ANTICIPATED RESULTS: To date, we have interviewed 16 women with average age of 35 and an equal mix of type 1 vs. type 2 DM and those who identify their health as poor/fair vs. good/very good. The following HBM domains have emerged as relevant to contraceptive decision-making: perceived threats, perceived barriers, cues to action and self-efficacy. An analysis of the cues to action domain suggests that patients’ responses to provider counseling are substantially dependent on provider tone and awareness of patient context. Effective cues were delivered supportively with focus on health promotion, while ineffective cues focused on adverse outcomes or were delivered to women not at risk of pregnancy. DISCUSSION/SIGNIFICANCE OF IMPACT: The application of the HBM to contraceptive decision making among women with DM will provide insight into critical factors that inform both patient and provider attitudes and behaviors and can be targeted for future interventions to reduce unplanned pregnancy in this vulnerable population.

Background
Research suggests that an 8-week mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) course may be effective for generalised anxiety disorder (GAD).
AimsTo compare changes in anxiety levels among participants with GAD randomly assigned to MBCT, cognitive–behavioural therapy-based psychoeducation and usual care.
MethodIn total, 182 participants with GAD were recruited (trial registration number: CUHK_CCT00267) and assigned to the three groups and followed for 5 months after baseline assessment with the two intervention groups followed for an additional 6 months. Primary outcomes were anxiety and worry levels.
ResultsLinear mixed models demonstrated significant group × time interaction (F(4,148) = 5.10, P = 0.001) effects for decreased anxiety for both the intervention groups relative to usual care. Significant group × time interaction effects were observed for worry and depressive symptoms and mental health-related quality of life for the psychoeducation group only.
ConclusionsThese results suggest that both of the interventions appear to be superior to usual care for the reduction of anxiety symptoms.

In this paper, we propose a multigrid algorithm based on the full approximate scheme for solving the membrane constrained obstacle problems and the minimal surface obstacle problems in the formulations of HJB equations. A Newton-Gauss-Seidel (NGS) method is used as smoother. A Galerkin coarse grid operator is proposed for the membrane constrained obstacle problem. Comparing with standard FAS with the direct discretization coarse grid operator, the FAS with the proposed operator converges faster. A special prolongation operator is used to interpolate functions accurately from the coarse grid to the fine grid at the boundary between the active and inactive sets. We will demonstrate the fast convergence of the proposed multigrid method for solving two model obstacle problems and compare the results with other multigrid methods.

Objective
To examine associations between various measures of the food environment and BMI percentile among youth.
DesignCross-sectional, observational.
SettingPitt County, eastern North Carolina.
SubjectsWe extracted the electronic medical records for youth receiving well child check-ups from January 2007 to June 2008. We obtained addresses for food venues from two secondary sources and ground-truthing. A geographic information systems database was constructed by geocoding home addresses of 744 youth and food venues. We quantified participants’ accessibility to food venues by calculating ‘coverage’, number of food venues in buffers of 0·25, 0·5, 1 and 5 miles (0·4, 0·8, 1·6 and 8·0 km) and by calculating ‘proximity’ or distance to the closest food venue. We examined associations between BMI percentile and food venue accessibility using correlation and regression analyses.
ResultsThere were negative associations between BMI percentile and coverage of farmers’ markets/produce markets in 0·25 and 0·5 mile Euclidean and 0·25, 0·5 and 1 mile road network buffers. There were positive associations between BMI percentile and coverage of fast-food and pizza places in the 0·25 mile Euclidean and network buffers. In multivariate analyses adjusted for race, insurance status and rural/urban residence, proximity (network distance) to convenience stores was negatively associated with BMI percentile and proximity to farmers’ markets was positively associated with BMI percentile.
ConclusionsAccessibility to various types of food venues is associated with BMI percentile in eastern North Carolina youth. Future longitudinal work should examine correlations between accessibility to and use of traditional and non-traditional food venues.
